Your eligible deposits held by a UK establishment of Yorkshire Building Society are protected up to a total of £120,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK's deposit guarantee scheme.
This limit is applied to the total of any deposits you have with the following: Yorkshire Building Society (deposits linked to an offset mortgage through our subsidiary Accord Mortgages Limited are held with Yorkshire Building Society), Chelsea Building Society and Norwich & Peterborough Building Society.
Any total deposits you hold above the limit between these brands are unlikely to be covered.
How does it work?
CBS is a participant of the FSCS. The FSCS can pay compensation to depositors if a building society is not able to meet its financial obligations.
Eligible deposits are protected up to a total of £120,000.
This limit is the total that you are protected across all of our brands. The brands include:
Yorkshire Building Society (YBS)
Chelsea (CBS)
Norwich & Peterborough (N&P)
For example, if you had:
£70,000 in a YBS savings account
£70,000 in a CBS savings account
Total: £140,000
£20,000 of your eligible deposits may not be protected by the FSCS scheme
The limit is per person. So, for a joint account held by two eligible depositors, the maximum amount that could be claimed is £240,000 (which is £120,000 each). This limit is across all of our brands.
